Let's create a more equitable world.
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

Hi!
I’m Ashley (she/her/hers). I’m an early career professional, podcast junkie, written and visual communicator, and politics nerd.
Much of my experience is within higher education, and I have designed print and digital posters seen by thousands of students, faculty and staff, and guests to the university; event programs that have landed in the hands of thousands of prospective and admitted students; and social media graphics seen by hundreds, in addition to so much more. Over summer 2018 and Spring 2019, I interned with two local arts/education non-profits and loved the hands-on, all-hands-on-deck nature of working there -- every day was different and taught me new skills. Currently, I work as the Communications and Marketing Assistant in the Office of Admissions at James Madison University, but I'm searching for a full-time career to call my own somewhere in the non-profit, NGO, or political spheres.

Though my experience thus far is centered in design and communications, I believe I can translate these skills to bettering the world around me by promoting democracy, researching and supporting equitable policy, and advocating for a world where everyone has the tools to achieve their dream. I hope to pivot to a policy and/or advocacy position in 2021 and am particularly passionate about voter reform, healthcare access, reproductive freedom, racial justice, and LGBTQIA+ rights.

I have experience with Adobe CC; graphic design; document layout; user research; social media management; copyediting; logo design and branding creation; writing for both popular and academic audiences; and more. In addition, my minors in Political Science and Writing, Rhetoric and Technical Communication centered on media analysis, legal research/writing, and a broad understanding of U.S. policy, law, and international affairs.

When I’m not at my day job, I can be found reading, trying to write my first novel, attempting to keep houseplants alive, and creating beautiful things while watching The West Wing.

I want to bring beauty to the world, and am available for freelance logo/brand design, graphic/digital design, copyediting, and painting commissions. Want something not listed here? Just ask!
